Key Position Responsibilities
Partner with Business Development to provide robust financial support on complex global business development opportunities. Work proactively and creatively with BD as a core member of the deal team to structure transactions while considering deal economics, accounting, tax, and risk profile.
Lead analysis of financial models underpinning deal terms; analyze underlying economics quickly to identify key value drivers and sensitivities. Formulate recommendations on short- and long-term effects of in licensing opportunities (financial, budgetary, and strategic) for committee & senior management reviews.
Make clear recommendations and constructively challenge deal terms and internal partners at all stages of a deal in order to maximize value to Roche while minimizing risk. Function as a peer and thought partner to Partnering and Legal leads on deal dynamics.
Provide accounting expertise and draft accounting memos to assess accounting implications of potential deal structures, to be confirmed with accounting colleagues locally and globally, as appropriate.
Drive to ensure the interpretation, collation and delivery of financial input from key stakeholders in licensing transactions including Portfolio Management, Research & Development, Legal, Commercial, Accounting, Finance and Tax. Do so in a timely manner to enable all key deadlines to be met throughout the evolution of each deal to which the individual is assigned.
Manage Business Development Finance tools and information including valuation models, negotiation playbooks and financial deal databases to ensure a consistent foundation across the group
Bachelor’s Degree (general business or finance disciplines are preferred)
MBA or other related graduate-level degree is a plus
A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in financial planning, accounting, and business operations, contract operations or financial analysis
Knowledge of managed care, drug contracting, customers, distribution channels, and government price reporting is a plus
Tangible finance transaction/deal experience preferred, as well as a solid understanding of accounting principles is preferred but not required.
Outstanding financial analysis capabilities including financial modeling, valuation, and financial statement analysis
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are needed to coordinate and disseminate confidential information used to drive investment decisions
Ability to set priorities and to manage a wide-ranging workload with the expectation of providing excellent customer service to deal teams during peak periods.
Fearless self-starter mentality with a “can do” attitude and strong executive presence – proactive with high level of self-motivation
Global thinker able to connect greater macroeconomic context and market forces to deal dynamics. In-depth knowledge of drug development process
Some travel required.
