Department: UNIVERSITY EXTENSION - 027025 Department Description: UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the academic division of the university dedicated to workforce and career development. CPE helps professional working adults upskill, reskill and advance their careers. CPE partners with campus schools, colleges and faculty to create global access to the distinctive knowledge and resources of UC Davis, and also works with employers and local experts to develop programs targeted to regional needs for economic development. More than 1,500 professionals teach in a wide array of specialized practice domains, including outstanding faculty from across UC Davis. Last year, CPE recorded nearly 62,000 enrollments in more than 4,200 classes, serving students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Courses are offered onsite and online in a variety of formats, including short courses, conferences, certificate programs and self-supporting master's degrees. Courses are open to the public and offered on a contract basis through partnerships with private companies, government agencies and international peer universities. CPE also manages the university's relationship with Coursera, a leading MOOC platform, and has taught hundreds of thousands of students through this partnership. CPE is completely self-supporting, generating more than $40 million in annual revenue from course fees, public and private contracts and grants. Job Summary: Under general supervision of the NCTA Director and under the supervision of the Academic Administrator, the Research & Evaluation Specialist will work in close collaboration with program and evaluation staff to contribute to research and evaluation projects focused on human services (e.g., child welfare, developmental disabilities). Conduct research, analyze data, interpret findings, and develop reports and presentations for policymakers, stakeholders, and government clients. Duties willl be on use of data for quality assurance, quality improvement, and evaluation purposes within the context of human services.
Work Environment: Valid driver's license required.
May travel to locations throughout the state. Occasionally work varied hours.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience conducting program evaluation within the context of human services.
Experience gathering, synthesizing, analyzing, and communicating information from a variety of sources.
Experience analyzing data and findings to discern patterns and trends, and to draw conclusions.
Experience managing and using large databases, including downloading data and preparing it for analysis and compilation.
Experience communicating complex, technical information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with all aspects of the research process, including both quantitative and qualitative research methods; knowledge of scientific research concepts and terminology.
Experience using SPSS or other statistical software packages to manage and analyze data.
Experience interpreting and implementing policies and regulations related to research and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Experience organizing, managing, and tracking project tasks and deliverables, and adhering to project timelines; experience using software packages to track duties and deadlines (e.g., Asana).
Experience using software to develop and disseminate research methods (e.g., Google Docs, Class Climate).
Advanced proficiency in using a variety of computer applications (e.g., Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, internet browsers).
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or advanced degree in related area OR equivalent experience working on research/evaluation projects using complex data focused on policy issues related to the field of human services research.
Knowledge or experience in working with vulnerable populations.
Knowledge of continuous quality improvement and quality assurance practices, and use of data to improve quality of human services.
Knowledge of national data sources and research/evaluation projects related to human services research.
Knowledge of University organization policies, procedures, and practices.
