The Credit Risk Management department provides expertise in enabling the bank to manage the risk exposures and achieving its business and strategic objectives effectively. Our professionals work on establishment of standards for assessing, monitoring, and measuring credit risk using approved internal risk rating models, procedures and escalation processes. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Retail Risk Management - Cards & Personal Lending and is responsible for providing a broad range of risk analysis, development and implementation of various risk strategies, support business partner requests and initiatives, and acting as a specialist/expert in providing guidance/advice on a range of risk related matters within assigned area of specialization. Through leading edge analytics, the role will also be responsible for the development of portfolio and sub-portfolio level insights for emerging risks, as well as provide best in class analysis of credit risk strategies, portfolio risk trends and scorecard performance to ensure Canadian Cards achieves its objectives.
As a seasoned risk analyst, you will leverage your understanding of credit behaviour to create, implement and validate various strategies and policies using complex data including cohort time series analysis
Perform detailed analysis and interpret information to make recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies including non-standard and ad-hoc requests as determined by management
Analyze issues and identify potential solutions that further business objectives
Work effectively with business partners to support/lead the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of initiatives through credit risk oversight and effective challenge
Ensure the timely communication of issues that are relevant to the team and encourage a good working relationship with other internal and external groups
Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise on the operational aspects of credit card product lifecycle, e.g. TSYS, TRIAD, CreditLink
Co-lead the usage of Machine Learning models in risk strategies by means of developing and implementing challenger strategies
Collaborate with internal partners in Model Development, Model Validation and Enterprise Data & Analytics to oversee the development and implementation of ML models
Demonstrate strong governance and control and risk management behaviour in alignment with TD policies and practices
Experience using Hadoop-based data technologies such as HDFS, Impala, HIVE, Spark SQL, and/or Python
Advanced expertise with the use of big data and relational databases using common languages such as SQL or SAS
Knowledge and experience in Data Modeling and Risk Management either from Business, Statistical, Mathematical, Scientific, or Financial background would be an asset
Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions
Proven ability to develop and maintain productive business/peer relationships, including superior communication, inter-personal, and influencing skills in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Ability to work independently and in teams, including occasionally managing cross functional or special project teams
Extremely strong attention to detail
Must be self-motivated, energetic and results-oriented and be committed to adding value to the organization
Advanced knowledge and understanding of retail credit products and underlying data would be an asset.
Excellent communication skills, with experience developing and presenting recommendations to senior management
Working knowledge of SAS Enterprise Miner, or Altair Knowledge Seeker (previously Angoss) would be an asset
Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing requirements
Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a range of tasks and issues simultaneously to a positive outcome and in a timely manner
University or College degree (Business/Mathematics/Statistics or suitable equivalent) and/or relevant work experience.
Minimum three years of relevant experience.
