The GIB/GCB BCM will report to the Regional GIB/GCB BCM lead and will be responsible for overseeing the control environment for the GIB/GCB Business (Coverage, Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity and Debt Capital Markets Origination). This job will be based in Hong Kong and will cover all countries with a GIB/GCB presence in the region. The BCM objective is to help the business manage its regulatory obligations, conduct and supervisory requirements. Specifically, the BCM team manages various aspects of the end to end control environment spanning business execution, RCSA, governance forums and monitoring. BCM's mandate is a key role for the business in the increasingly complex and demanding global regulatory environment.
The GIB/GCB BCM team is part of the APAC Banking and Global Banking BCM team and the broader APAC Controls Office. The GIB/GCB BCM will work with the lead BCMs and the wider business and partners to establish governance and systems that identify, quantify, manage and monitor risk at the most granular level and establish risk tolerances and risk management procedures and tools in consultation with the business and relevant partners. The GIB/GCB BCM will support the oversight of the end to end system of controls that mitigate risk and drive a program through active engagement, thematic reviews, risk analysis and control deep dives that continuously manages and reduces the Business's residual risk profile.
Responsibilities for this role include: On a day to day basis the BCM will be responsible for: o Provide guidance and support execution for the identification, assessment and monitoring of risk at business level o Support critical business control forums and processes (in conjunction with business), and enable lead BCM to drive agenda to ensure forums and processes effectively cover critical operating and business risk o Review, challenge and test existing controls; o Support the control agenda for GIB and GCB o Execution of RCSA for GIB/GCB business including participation in inherent risk review, control testing, residual risk assessment o Review of metrics from such as virtual data rooms, access controls, cross border o Manage follow up and reporting of control issues on a regular basis o Produce, present and maintain materials which provide clear insight and analysis into the current risk issues and trends relevant to the Head of IB business on 1: 1 meetings. o Conduct deep dive of issues and risk events to ensure all control gaps are highlighted, managed and appropriate actions taken o Work with business, functional groups and global teams to develop and implement appropriate action plans
The Role requires establishment of strong relationships with the Front Office and a deep understanding of the business, its control challenges, its architecture and products. The candidate should be interested in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, participating in key initiatives and becoming involved in a diverse set of issues that will have a direct impact on the organization.
Previous experience in Investment Banking experience in Risk and Control, Investment Banking or Compliance is preferable but not mandatory
Basic understanding of the end to end product life cycle for Investment Banking and Corporate Banking (relevant Banking Products experience: ECM, DCM, M&A)
