This position begins August 2019 and involves teaching five classes, as well as co-curricular activities, including student advising, as assigned by the division principal. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of a broad range of English courses for the Upper School (grades 9th through 12th).
Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. Successful English teachers have an interest in course development for a growing Humanities and Global Studies (HGS) program. This position involves collaboratively researching and crafting differentiated, engaging lessons for students with a range of learning abilities as well as providing daily substantive feedback that fosters student achievement. Candidates will utilize technology that efficiently enhances instruction.
The ideal candidate will have experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams and leading students in inquiry-based learning. The candidate will value interdisciplinary thinking and can expertly guide our students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of English.
Qualified candidates should possess following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature or related field (required)
Master’s Degree in English Literature or related field (preferred)
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with basic productivity and media software
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment
Teaching certificates are not required
