The ideal person will have a good understanding of all of the major asset classes (as well as preferably alternative asset classes) and be comfortable with and have experience in engaging with portfolio managers on a regular basis to discuss market developments, understand fund performance, and decipher product strategy. They should likewise be able to determine that portfolios are been managed in line with the approved investment approach, build and maintain the infrastructure to monitor same on a regular basis, and report to interested parties such as internal colleagues, the Board, and regulators, in order to explain and give assurances regarding the portfolio management process.
Contribute to the strengthening of investment processes, research and control framework within the region
Oversee certain delegated portfolio management activity from the region and develop management information and surveillance in accordance with this responsibility
Serve as support and/or escalation point for investments on all matters that could have an adverse impact on company, its clients and its relationships with regulators
Foster adherence to local government requirements such as CP86
Monitor investment processes with a view to proposing improvements and enhancements
Identify gaps and proposals to address deficiencies
Participate in ad hoc performance reviews of the full product range as required for internal committees, boards, clients, marketing/ RFP documents etc
Contribute to the overall commentary on performance rankings and ratings as required
Support the Irish Investment Director in his interaction with the investment, client portfolio
managers and product managers to co-ordinate and product clear messaging on performance for clients
Third Party Investments
Support certain third-party investment relationships, on behalf of the Multi Asset team
Conduct fund research, as required/directed by the Multi Asset team
Present research outcome to the Multi Asset team in charge of ongoing monitoring of certain funds
Support new investment related initiatives and strategy development
Work closely with the multi asset team and the Global Portfolio solutions department to to help foster client focused solutions that often span across asset classes
Work closely with the relevant asset class heads as required
Lead/support key projects arising the Investment team, and represent Investment as required
Act as a sounding board for senior executives from investments and distribution within the region
Advocate for regional distribution and investment agenda globally, build consensus within the region and globally
Circa 10 Years experience in asset management or an investment role. CFA holder a plus, good working knowledge of various asset classes.
