Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development team to provide critical operations support and manage donor and funder relations activities.
Supports the VP of Development including assistance with meetings, scheduling, calendar management and coordination, correspondence, creating agendas for development volunteer and staff meetings, distributing development meeting minutes and developing reports for internal and external audiences, filing, and business card input.
Supports the Operations and Research Specialist as well as the Development team to organize and execute donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, including but not limited to the following:
Monthly membership renewal process
Mail merge and execution of mailing
Campaign pledge reminders
Donor gift acknowledgement and fulfillment process
Works with the Development Operations and Research Specialist to ensure that all donor renewals, pledge reminders, new donor solicitations, communications and other contacts are appropriately reflected in Tessitura database. Serves as a back-up for gift entry and donor research profiles.
Helps cultivate relationships with donors/funders by way of interacting and managing a wide range of relationship building activities and initiatives. Responds to donor/funder inquiries, issues and requests or refer them to the appropriate staff member.
Provides administrative support to Development team with meetings, calendar coordination, correspondence and developing reports for internal and external audiences. Assists Development team to create agendas and materials for Board Governance and Development Committees and Burnham Society and Auxiliary Board.
Assists Events Manager to execute donor programs, institutional events and fundraising events (annual gala and Auxiliary Board annual fundraiser).
Maintains Development department calendar. Tracks and coordinates all major Development department activities.
Serves as backup for the President and CEO’s Executive Assistant, and assists with logistics for Board activities.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
1 – 2 years of relevant experience
Must be a self-starter and creative thinker
Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
Strong desire and motivation to see the CAC’s initiatives succeed
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience with CRM or fundraising database (Tessitura a plus)
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, donors, and the general public, if necessary
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience in a not for profit setting a plus
Experience working with high-level volunteers preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
