The Business Governance Expert – Compliance role is new to the Business Governance team and will play an integral role in maturing the Compliance agenda within the Customer Service Operations (CSO) portfolio, working closely with relevant stakeholder groups within the business, and more broadly, Compliance SME's from other areas within ANZ as required and in conjunction with an existing Compliance SME in the team.
This role in particular is suitable for a candidate with previous Compliance / Regulatory Change Management risk experience (minimum 5 years) to ensure robust management of the responsibilities across the CSO portfolio. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to take active ownership as the SME for compliance capability uplift for the Business Governance team and broader business stakeholders, ensuring there exists a sound understanding of the relevant obligations in the operational processes the business execute and may extend to control identification/monitoring activities to demonstrate active compliance risk management.
Their key focus areas include:
Strong understanding of the current regulatory environment and practical implications/application for business stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience managing and/or implementing regulatory change, particularly assisting from a practical perspective to embed operationally within businesses/processes.
Identify and assist in active remediation of any gaps/uplift required to meet minimum requirements of relevant risk policies and respective regulatory requirements.
Contribution to existing risk profiles and risk management activities at the CSO portfolio level and active contribution to the respective business area profiles and information as a Compliance SME as required.
Co-ordination point for regulatory reporting requests, extending to appropriate written responses and justification/explanation including those received from areas outside of CSO.
Liaise with Compliance SME groups within ANZ as required.
Maintaining a strong understanding of the external environment, legislative change and regulatory sentiment
Develop and deliver a Compliance risk management capability uplift program.
Note: this role will work closely with an existing Compliance SME within the team who will retain responsibility for guidance and advice on operational matters as raised in business as usual by CSO stakeholders.

Ability to motivate team members to view risk as part of everyone's role and adapt to risk management in an autonomous working environment.
A proven ability to develop and implement effective operational risk management solutions, including the ability to identify key risks, risk causes and mitigants, controls and treatments with specific reference to Regulatory requirements and as a compliance SME/ An ability to analyse and synthesise what's happening both externally and internally for emerging risks. This includes implementing legislative change and interpreting regulatory sentiment in the context of the business leadership.
Willingness to look at things differently, challenge the status quo and innovate to deliver better customer outcomes while satisfying operational risk requirements.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build relationships and influence effectively.
Partner with operational areas to understand the business context and provide specialist guidance and support to create effective control environments.
Participate in and provide specialist advice on Business Unit and targeted Compliance Assessments/Reviews and be able to identify risk metrics and insights to relevant Risk Forums and reporting.
