The primary purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day operations by providing administrative and clerical assistance to Extension Specialists in the Family and Consumer Sciences Unit within Cooperative Extension at NC Agricultural and Technical State University. The position occasionally provides support for the 4-H administrative associate in the same office. Administrative and clerical support includes answering phones and providing assistance to callers, creating correspondence, database management, travel planning and reimbursements, mail, etc. This position independently performs a variety of tasks including some technical tasks in support of a work process or processes. In addition, the position maintains and applies substantial program knowledge to independently advise of specific program operations.

Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners – North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension at NC A&T has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The primary purpose of the organization is to disseminate and encourage the application of research findings to the citizens of North Carolina. Our mission is to help people put knowledge to work for economic prosperity, environmental stewardship and an improved quality of life.
