Information Technology Manager, Wharton San Francisco The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania
Located in San Francisco, CA, the IT Service Manager will manage the dynamic team responsible for the daily IT and classroom support operations at the Wharton School's campus in the historic Hills Plaza.
* Since this position is located in San Francisco, CA. interested candidates must either reside locally or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
Supervise professional staff members and temporary employees to ensure successful client support outcomes
Act as first and second tier technical support for all IT and Audio Visual technologies; work alongside the IT Support Specialists to advise and implement effective solutions to technical problems and incidents
Coordinate and schedule technical support staff coverage and evaluate operational requirements for campus programs and events
Advise on the priority of and coordinate local resources for campus IT and AV projects required for successful operations, and ensure campus technology is aligned towards the IT Director's strategic goals
Ensure the successful application of both written and technical support policies as well as other best practices mandated by the IT Director, Client Technology Services, and Wharton Computing. Create additional procedures as needed to ensure successful team operations.
Manage and maintain positive working relationships with both external and internal customers as well as other technical groups within Wharton Computing
Coach and mentor junior staff
To respond to campus support needs, early morning, evening and weekend shifts are required.
5-7 years of IT and audiovisual-related support experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of advanced systems analysis and support. (Examples include, but are not limited to, hardware and software troubleshooting, managing Active Directory, advanced understanding of security concepts, use of desktop imaging technologies, networking concepts and technologies, server OS management, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation for a wide variety of constituents
Superior written and verbal communication skills
An ability to act with autonomy when faced with problems of increasing urgency and technical complexity
The following qualifications are strongly preferred:
A BA or BS degree in relevant technical field
3+ years of supervisory experience with direct responsibility for IT support operations. Examples of demonstrable leadership skills would include (but are not limited to) staff scheduling, writing performance appraisals, coaching, and coordinating multiple resources for successful technical troubleshooting
IT and/or AV Support experience in Higher Education, with direct responsibilities for high profile Faculty and Events
Experience working on cross-functional teams
Ability to collaborate across time zones and distance to execute on objectives
