Provides Pre-Award administrative guidance and substantive review of proposal documents in the processing of grant and contract proposals. Assists constituents in identifying appropriate funding opportunities. Assists in proposal development.
Responsible for application and communication of procedures designed to comply with government and private research grants and/or contracts pertaining to the interpretation and application of UTA procedures and sponsor regulations.
1. Initiates and maintains contacts with faculty to assist them in locating pertinent external funding opportunities. 2. Utilize web based search processes to identify and disseminate external funding opportunities to appropriate faculty and to identify opportunities to include in funding opportunity newsletter. 3. Assists faculty in preparing, reviewing and verifying proposal budgets, biographical sketches, current and pending support, administrative forms, etc. Review guidelines and advises faculty regarding sponsor and university requirements. 4. Perform thorough review of all proposal documents (abstract, statement of work, facilities, budget justification, etc.) offering edits and suggestions to improve document's grammar, organization and structure, flow, clarity and cohesion, emphasis, section development, etc. to make the proposal more fundable. 5. Advises principal investigators relative to grant and contract rules, regulations and procedures relative to the content of proposals given the internal and external guidelines, policies, etc. that will be governing the potential award. 6. Provides technical support to principal investigators by providing information and guidance as to the use of University Grant and Contract forms. 7. Conduct a thorough review of the final application to ensure the proposal is in compliance with all University and Sponsor guidelines, policies, procedures and requirements. 8. Prepare and review documents for signature by Authorized University signatory. 9. Ensure and maintain thorough documentation of proposal submission, per office practices. 10. Assist faculty with the development, review and submission of Just In Time and other post submission information requests. 11. Keep up to date with sponsor and University policies, procedures and guidance to ensure compliant submissions. 12. Develops/Conducts presentations regarding internal and external pre-award topics. 13. Performs other related duties as required. General office environment with short deadlines where accuracy is critical to job success.
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business or public administration, social sciences or a related field and three years of experience as a GCS 2 or equivalent experience.
CRA or CPRA certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSANDABILITIES: MSOffice suites: Excel, Word, Outlook; People Soft; above average written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact positively with various people within the department as well as vendors and clients;
