The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) is recruiting to fill an open rank, open track position that also directs our Masters in Healthcare Administration programs.
The Department comprises 12 full-time faculty members from a range of disciplines (management, economics, finance, sociology, organizational theory, law). Faculty research clusters around several areas, including the impact of financing models, organizational structures, processes, and social determinants on quality, cost, and access to healthcare to improve population health in both domestic and international settings. The Department of Health Policy and Management was formally organized as a unit in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1967. The Department currently offers master and doctoral degree programs including the MHA, MPH, and PhD; and joint degrees (MBA/MHA, JD/MHA, and MD/MPH). The Department’s programs are accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH). The MHA program also has been accredited by the Commission on Education for Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) since 1971 and is a full graduate member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).
The Department is seeking a colleague qualified to direct the MHA Program who can effectively develop and execute a vision for our Top 20 MHA program (residential) as well as the new Online MHA program. The ideal candidate for this position will be effective at strategic planning, academic assessment, and student-focused leadership. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of and ability to teach in one or more of the 5 core domains of healthcare management.

An earned doctorate in healthcare management, health services management, public health, health information technology, health informatics or a related field
Demonstrated teaching excellence in healthcare administration at the graduate level
Knowledge of CAHME accreditation standards and competency-based education
Demonstrated research excellence in healthcare administration or a related field
Experience managing accredited programs across multiple platforms
Experience cultivating partnerships for internships and experiential learning
Experience teaching professional students in hybrid, online, or cohort learning environments
Previous experience interacting with communities of color and cultures other than the applicant’s own.
Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives
Active membership in AUPHA, ACHE, APHA, AcademyHealth or other relevant professional societies
