The court is seeking well qualified applicants for a full-time, permanent Pro Se Law Clerk position. The incumbent will assist two judges with managing their prisoner civil rights caseloads. For consideration, applicants must be law school graduates and possess at least one year of post graduate civil work exp. and membership in a state bar.
The position offers an excellent opportunity to start or continue a career in federal service and includes full federal benefits including retirement coverage. The court will consider a candidates preference on duty station in either Fresno or Bakersfield CA courthouse. Salary based on duty station location.
Starting salary will be set based on the following:
Candidates who possess the minimum one year of post-graduate legal work
experience and Bar membership will be placed at a JSP grade 12 step 1 ($80,993
in Fresno /$84,785 in Bakersfield).
Candidates who possess at least two years of post-graduate legal work experience
and Bar membership will be placed at a JSP grade 13 step 1 ($88,704 in
Fresno/$100,820 in Bakersfield).
Candidates who posses at least three years of post-graduate legal work experience
and Bar membership will be place at a JSP grade 14 step 1 ($104,821 in
Fresno/$119,139 in Bakersfield).
Consideration for placement above step 1 at either grade 12, 13 or 14 is limited to
candidates who possess work experience in the Federal Government at a higher
grade and/or step as defined under Highest Previous Rate (HPR) Authority.
