PROGRAM DIRECTOR, AI ACCELERATOR,Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) , to collaborate with the Air Force director, MIT AF Accelerator director, and faculty lead on the AI Accelerator program on coordinating/managing the program goals of advancing artificial intelligence (AI) research, fostering idea acceleration and technology incubation, and facilitating the maturation of AI technology for commercialization and rapid deployment. Will execute the program's strategic plan; oversee/coordinate day-to-day operations on the MIT side; serve as liaison to key stakeholders to increase awareness of and engagement in the center; speak at conferences/symposia; collaborate with experts from academia/industry/government on the project's research aspects; prepare reports; and collaborate with team members on setting strategic directions.
The MIT-Air Force AI Accelerator is a state-of-the-art, end-to-end, sustainable pipeline of AI technology from basic research to operational prototype.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; eight years' experience working in a research environment, including at least four managing complex research initiatives; demonstrated success managing large-scale projects with a team of internal researchers and diverse stakeholder representation; familiarity with multidisciplinary computing research and ability to advance major initiatives with worldwide reach; diplomacy and tact; ability to present compelling arguments, think strategically, set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, revise plans/methods, build consensus, negotiate, work across boundaries, meet competing deadlines, deliver results, and communicate complex technical information; experience effectively engaging with senior faculty/university administrators/outside stakeholders; success creating new programs/initiatives/services; excellent relationship management, leadership, project management, client service, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills; and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to attend evening and/or weekend meetings/events and travel domestically (and potentially internationally) up to 20% of the time.
This position is funded through May 15, 2024, with the possibility of renewal based on the availability of funding.
