The Assistant Professor of Acting will have a 3/2 teaching load and be expected to participate in departmental service and governance, and engage in ongoing creative and/or scholarly research commensurate with attaining tenure at a research institution.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
AEA, SAG-AFTRA, AGVA or other professional acting credits. A record of meaningful work in and across racial and cultural borders. Stage Voice teaching experience. Stage directing experience. Expertise in IPA, Knight-Thompson, Dialects, Shakespeare verse/text, and introductory stage voice pedagogies. Additional areas of expertise such as African-American Theatre and/or culturally responsive acting pedagogies, Directing, or Applied Theatre. Minimum of 3 years of university-level teaching experience; Demonstrated ability to build productive professional relationships with culturally diverse students, faculty, staff and community; Ability to serve as an enthusiastic teacher/mentor in a student-centered department.
