About the role: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance (Governance, Risk Assurance & Reporting), this role is primarily responsible for ensuring projects and change initiatives across the Retail Bank operate in line with the highest standards of compliance and risk management . As the Manager Risk & Compliance (Projects & Change), you will perform a key role in supporting smaller projects and programs to ensure they are meeting their first line of defence risk and compliance obligations and be the coordinator and contact for risk representatives from larger programs of work. Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Management of the overall risk activities to improve overall project success with a focus on compliance and risk outcomes.
Identification of early warning signs in projects and taking proactive action to address emerging issues and manage risks. This includes regular analysis and reporting of control activities, risk assessments, project status, control design and testing, coordination of action on audit findings, as well as proactive engagement with the Retail Leadership Team and other key stakeholders across the group.
Coordination of continuous improvement activities such as procedure reviews to drive better customer outcomes and compliance.
Management of treatment actions identified via internal audit, risk register reviews, etc.
Assistance with ad hoc risk projects and initiatives, including preparation of papers for a variety of committees and forums
About you: To be considered for this role, you will have a strong demonstrable experience in a similar role, with advanced or broad knowledge of the function. Coupled with your project experience and understanding of project governance and project risks, your experience working in banking, finance or risk management will see you supporting projects to ensure compliance and obligations are met. You will also have the following skills/experience:
Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills
Computer literate with superior skills in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as superior written and verbal communication skills.
Superior relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with personnel across a wide variety of areas and organisational levels.
Tertiary qualifications in business, banking, accounting, risk management or a finance related discipline would be preferred.
Although not essential, it would also be highly regarded if you have the following:
Knowledge of banking or finance processes and practices, and a working knowledge of operational risk management
An understanding of banking specific regulatory legislation and compliance requirements
