CBRE is looking for a Director of Data Governance within its Digital and Technology (D&T) Global Cyber Security Office to oversee the D&T data protection and privacy compliance efforts and to perform compliancy testing to the privacy standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Understands governance, privacy by design and security, and translates them into business and data management requirements in the form of functional specifications to meet data privacy regulatory/compliance obligations.
Drives D&T project activities to meet milestones / timelines and ensures D&T complies with the privacy regulations.
Coordinates global data priv acy activities and guidelines within D&T in partnership with respective EMEA and APAC teams
Partners with D&T leadership, interfaces with the Data Privacy Officer (Compliance), legal and other teams to drive policy and process improvements.
Monitors / audits data governance compliance, including creating and maintaining data inventories, data mapping, and retention and destruction policies, within the Digital & Technology organization
Involvement in technical aids that support compliance (i.e. encryption, Data Loss Prevention, etc) Undertakes proactive work and enforcement measures that promote good working practices and compliance with privacy requirements.
Performs continuous risk assessment of unstructured data stores and the remediation of the exposed sensitive data
Assists with risk assessment / prioritization processes of structured data stores (Inventory); develops risk mitigations
Point of Contact within the Digital & Technology organization providing knowledge and training to leadership and the employees
Communicates to senior leadership of existing and new risks needing management's attention
Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) required. Master's degree (MA, MS or MBA) preferred GDPR knowledge and experience preferred
3-5 years' experience in risk assessments and 5+ years in data security (data retention) experience, and 3+ years in Project Management experience
Strong analytical skills
Comprehensive data security protection control knowledge (i.e. encryption, PKI, identity management, etc)
Understands SCRUM / Agile Practices
PMP Certification, CISSP preferred
Ability and willingness to move with purpose and strong sense of urgency
Ability to interpret risk and communicate effectively with all layers of management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to influence and drive teams to meet the goals without direct reporting responsibility; self-starter
