To assist in the administration of a Division I program in the sports of Men’s & Women's Track and Field, consistent with the policies of Miami University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and other appropriate governing bodies (i.e. Mid-American Conference).
To assist the Assistant Head Coach and Director in all aspects of coaching and administration of the program with an emphasis in all the jumping events. Recruitment:
Successfully pass the NCAA Recruiting Exam
Identify, plan and host recruits for all event areas with specific focus on the jumping events for both the Men’s and Women’s programs.
Coach, mentor, and instruct athletes on day-to-day basis at practice and in
Assist the Assistant Head Coach in coordinating and supervising all daily practices not limited to the jumping event area.
Set up and put away equipment (ie Pole Vault pits, plyo boxes, hurdles, maintenance equipment)
Perform other coaching functions and duties as assigned by the Director of CC/Track & Field
Assist in planning and hosting of home track and cross country meets as well as other team and alumni events
Assist in coordinating meals for home and away competitions
Assist in administrative duties and alumni relations as assigned by the Director.
Work and communicate effectively with coaches, administrators, staff and support staff within the athletic department and with university employees, campus wide.
Assist the Director of CC/Track & Field in conducting the cross country/track & field programs in accordance with all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and university rules, including attendance at compliance meetings, appropriate record keeping for recruiting and playing/practice seasons, monitoring eligibility of student-athletes in the program, successfully completing the annual NCAA Certification test, and assisting in the education of student-athletes about NCAA regulations.
Participate in departmental activities, including service on committees and attendance at all scheduled meetings
Serve as liaison to academic advisors, trainers and strength & conditioning staff
Represent the program through public speaking assignments and community service projects
Participate in activities as requested by the Red and White Club
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of CC/Track & Field and/or athletic administration
