THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AT ROWAN UNIVERSITY invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Full/Associate/ Assistant Professor rank. Successful candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels, develop a nationally recognized externally funded research program, and contribute to the institution and profession through service. Candidates for Full/Associate Professor position should have an established record of research, teaching, and service commensurate with higher ranks. The department intends to fill at least one position at the Full/Associate Professor rank.
Preferred research areas are digital design & simulation, advanced manufacturing, composite materials, and renewable energy systems; however, outstanding candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered. A doctorate in mechanical engineering or closely related field is required for appointment. In addition, excellent written and oral communication skills are expected. The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, comprising of six departments, currently enrolls about 1500 undergraduates and 150 MS/PhD students. The College has received over $13 million in research funding annually over the last three years. The Mechanical Engineering department is home to 400 undergraduates, 40 MS/PhD students, 16 faculty members, and three staff members. The ME undergraduate program has consistently received high recognition by employers and academic peers with multidisciplinary “engineering clinics” as a hallmark. The Department is now seeking to further strengthen its graduate research and teaching with multiple faculty hiring. Our faculty are core team members of the newly established Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Institute at Rowan aimed to strengthen materials related research and education. The new faculty members will complement and expand research expertise and build strong connections with government/industry in the region and beyond.
