The Division of Mass Communication is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Mass Communication, specifically to support the B.S. in Advertising Communication and M.S. in Integrated Advertising Communication programs, commencing September 1, 2020.

The Division of Mass Communication delivers undergraduate and graduate programs in Advertising Communication, Communication Arts, Journalism, Public Relations, and Television and Film. This is a teaching-intensive position (9-12 credit hours per semester) with opportunities for research reductions. Research productivity is important, but secondary to teaching excellence and a strong commitment to student engagement. Division faculty are expected to participate in academic advisement, student mentoring, academic assessment, and other activities as required by the Chair and/or Dean. Participation in division, college, and university governance is expected.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Advertising, Communications, or another relevant field, professional experience in advertising practice and research, ties to the professional community, and demonstrated teaching ability in a variety of undergraduate and graduate advertising courses. Candidates must also display a consistent record of scholarship in advertising or another related field. Preference will be given to candidates who can support the growth of the M.S. in Integrated Advertising Communication program. Candidates should be familiar with technology-supported learning pedagogy and be able to integrate technology into teaching.
