Business Data Management Analyst (Tableau Developer)
Job Profile Summary Serves as an expert in a specific aspect of financial and operational data. Undertake complex projects which require additional specialized technical and/or business knowledge. Develop data strategies, analyze patterns in structured and unstructured data, and make recommendations and decisions which require the ability to assess complex or ambiguous situations to align strategy with stakeholder needs and current levels of data maturity. Work may include the management and manipulation of complex high volume data from a variety of sources, leading complex data work across multiple business units, development and implementation of techniques and procedures for one or more areas of financial and operational data including audits, development of domain governance staffing, data analytics, data mapping, data and analytic requirements, and data architecture. Ensures that data-intensive programs, projects, and/or domains are aligned with enterprise data policies, standards, and strategies.
• Experience with SAS programming or moderate to advanced SQL programming
• Experience with DataBricks
• Intermediate-level Tableau, MicroStrategy and/or Paxata to provide dashboards or reports
Nice to Have Qualifications:
• Experience programming in Spark SQL, Dataframes, and PySpark • Experience with AWS S3, Glue, and streaming products • Experience with DataBricks • Experience with development of metadata-driven and fully parameterized programming methods • Produce automated tests of data flow components • Use knowledge of the business to automate business-specific tests for data content quality • Automate code deployment and promotion • Build automated orchestration and error handling for use by production operation teams • Diagnose and resolve technical issues or defects from production applications built by you and your team • Design experience using best practices in building a data pipeline • Experience in scrum team and working from business stories to task out and estimate work effort
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a technical expert in one or more aspects of financial and operational data for the enterprise, or assigned domain(s), program(s) or project(s) to ensure the quality and reliability of data being used in decision making.
Consult on complex projects, programs and/or initiatives to improve efficiency and quality of data. Serve as an expert in the assessment, planning, development, and/or implementation of data practices through development of standards and practices, alignment of applications and systems, clarification and/or implementation of requirements, development and use of audit and other controls, and communication of status and metrics.
Provide expert consulting on development and implementation of data strategies, practices and standards for complex initiatives. Assist in development and implementation of data policies, procedures, processes and programs to ensure objectives are achieved, the data quality and availability, and track/measure the progress of improvement in data quality.
Assist in long-term strategic planning activities for the development and implementation of data and data governance guidelines. Viewed as an expert in financial and operational data.
Consult on one or more highly specialized phases of financial and operational data which may include data governance, development of data strategy, data requirements, risk assessment, gaps in financial and operational data, quantitative techniques, management and manipulation of complex high-volume data from a variety of sources and/or requirement elicitation. Lead development and communication of solutions for use across programs or projects. Responsible for delivery of strategies and approaches which are functional and provide solid return on investment.
Assist in establishing the framework for ensuring data is timely, understandable, reliable, consistent, and enables high quality decision making through strategy, policy, standards, processes, monitoring/evaluation, and appropriate use of technology.
Audit and/or evaluate the most complex business processes and systems to ensure alignment with data governance standards and requirements. Define and implement data requirements in alignment with the overall business plan.
Provide oversight and direction for the mitigation of data issues. Assist in long-term strategic planning activities for the development of data guidelines.
Responsible for change management, performance analysis, planning, vendor management, technical standards, procedures and evaluation or products and programs within their specialty area.
Consistently integrate data best practices to meet organizational needs through partnerships, and effective change management practices. Recognized as a key source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff.

Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education.
Experience: Eight years of progressive experience in financial and operational data, data science (including large customer data bases and work with product, geographic, demographic, customer, prospect, producer, social, machine and unstructured data to identify trends and opportunities), or data governance field and/or manipulation of complex high-volume data from a variety of sources. Experience successfully developing and implementing complex data solutions which meet business needs within tight time frames. Preferred: Experience with insurance, financial services or related industry preferred. Consulting experience, knowledgeable and experienced with the core functions of an organization, experience with process design and mapping and continuous improvement. Experience coaching and developing others.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Understand how to use technology to drive and meet business goals. Coaching and knowledge transfer practices. Thorough knowledge and understanding of how to build skills in others in one or more of the technical areas which support financial and operational data including components of data governance, data science, data strategy, etc. Expert knowledge of emerging industry, competitor, customer demography, regulatory, data and analytic, and market trends as they relate to insurance, reinsurance, and related financial services industries. Preferred: Insurance or financial industry. Strong understanding of best practices for one or more technical areas within financial and operational data and how to apply them within an organization.
Demonstrated ability in leading change, business transformation planning and negotiation. Demonstrated expertise and the ability to coach and mentor others in building business partnerships, influence, providing timely and relevant information for decision making, and the ability to translate findings into actionable communications. Ability to successfully analyze and recommend solutions for data and information problems which meet business needs. Demonstrated expertise and the ability to coach and mentor others in data and analytic skills in one or more of the following areas: Knowledge management and technical documentation, appropriate use and interpretation of metrics, data requirement elicitation, solution scoping. Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of Nationwide business practices, Organizational agility, and Enterprise solution delivery methodology.
Demonstrated expertise with ability to coach/mentor others in financial and operational data skills in one or more of the following areas (see role profile for additional detail): Taxonomy; Business transformation planning; Enterprise solution delivery methodology; Information technology acumen; Nationwide business knowledge; Validation testing; Data gap & impact analysis; Planning & managing work; Quality process improvement, Data governance methodologies, or Business domain expertise.
