Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for the Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Professorship in the Humanities. This is a two-semester, endowed position for the 2020-21 academic year. We seek candidates with exceptional scholarly credentials in any humanistic field.
Qualifications: Applicants must be active scholars and teachers at the rank of associate or full professor.
Responsibilities: The Weiner Professor will be in residence in Rolla between August 2020 and May 2021. Over the academic year, the successful candidate will present two public lectures, lead a seminar for early-career faculty in the humanities on our campus, and teach one semester-long undergraduate course. We have three humanities departments at Missouri S&T: Arts, Languages, and Philosophy; English & Technical Communication; and History & Political Science. These departments collaborate on research projects, grants, and teaching. Together, we have founded the Center for Science, Technology, and Society ( https://csts.mst.edu/ ) and the Humanities x Technology Collaboratory, a technology-rich, collaborative humanities laboratory. The Weiner Professor would be encouraged to participate in the CSTS and other cross-campus activities. Generous salary is provided, commensurate with background and experience. Additional funds for travel and research and furnished housing are available.
