The Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP) supports researchers, faculty, students, and social science research through research development, education and training programs, centers, workshops, and administrative support.
Reporting to the Grants Manager-Post Award, the Financial Coordinator will be a key member of our grants management team. S/he will be responsible for the financial monitoring of externally funded research projects; including government and private foundation funded grants.
Work with Grants Manager-Post Award and Assistant Director to support post-award activities:
Responsible for the grants lifecycle including; account set up, subcontract setup, final report reconciling and filing, and supporting account closures; monitoring exchange rates on international awards, and working closely with the Controller's office to extend or end grant accounts.
Meets all grant reporting deadlines and university fiscal close deadlines.
Corresponding with principal investigators regarding budgets and spending; reviewing accounts monthly and monitoring account restrictions and deadlines, overdrafts and spending.
Processing and tracking subcontracts and cost-sharing agreements
Serving as the liaison between Sponsored Projects Finance and principal investigators regarding general post-award grant administration; responding to inquiries and requests from principal investigators; provide grant account balances.
Maintaining a database of grant applications and awards.
Reporting all unique budget circumstances to the Grants Manager-Post Award and Assistant Director; assisting Grants Manager-Post Award and Assistant Director in ensuring compliance with university; government and funding agency policies.
Processing and tracking of additional salary compensation from grant accounts and conveying information regarding salary.
Work with Grants Manager-Pre Award and Assistant Director to support pre-award activities:
Assist in the preparation of proposal budgets and grant applications as needed.
Help build and maintain a grants foundation database; filtering and reviewing grant funding listservs to find relevant information for grant building; creating a structure that will connect investigators to specific funders.
Assist with the communication to Principal Investigators regarding grant funding opportunities; and other duties as requested.
High School diploma or the equivalent, and three years of related experience.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks.
Computer proficiency in PC platforms.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel.
Bachelor's degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
Experience in an academic setting strongly preferred, including experience with university financial systems.
Prior financial, grants and/or foundation relation experience a plus but not required.
