School of Medicine - Master of Medical Science Physician Assistant Program
The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor for the Master of Medical Science (MMS) Physician Assistant (PA) program. This is a ranked full time non-tenure track faculty position. The UMKC School of Medicine is dedicated to its vision to be a leader in academic medicine through innovative programs and vibrant community partnerships. The MMS PA program began in 2014. It is a 29 month (7 semester) program and admits 20 students per cohort. Faculty members have opportunities and support for scholarly activities and faculty development including tuition reduction. UMKC is a comprehensive public teaching and research university with more than 16,000+ undergraduate, graduate, and professional students representing all 50 states, 85+ countries, and broadly diverse identities.
Responsibilities: The experienced clinician and educator will work under the direction of the Program Director to coordinate and provide instruction for the didactic phase of the physician assistant curriculum. This will include ensuring delivery of content consistent with accreditation standards and the NCCPA blueprint. The individual will collaborate with dedicated faculty to implement an array of teaching and evaluation strategies. Additional duties include student academic and professional development advising; participation in student admissions activities; participation in the program's ongoing self-study, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement processes; and involvement in university service activities.
Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited PA program, hold or working toward a Master's degree, eligibility for Missouri PA licensure, and current NCCPA-certification. Previous teaching experience is desirable. The candidate should be highly motivated and organized as well as possess excellent communication skills.
