Department: UNIVERSITY EXTENSION - 027025 Department Description: UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the academic division of the university dedicated to workforce and career development. CPE helps professional working adults upskill, reskill and advance their careers. CPE partners with campus schools, colleges and faculty to create global access to the distinctive knowledge and resources of UC Davis, and also works with employers and local experts to develop programs targeted to regional needs for economic development. More than 1,500 professionals teach in a wide array of specialized practice domains, including outstanding faculty from across UC Davis. Last year, CPE recorded nearly 62,000 enrollments in more than 4,200 classes, serving students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Courses are offered onsite and online in a variety of formats, including short courses, conferences, certificate programs and self-supporting master's degrees. Courses are open to the public and offered on a contract basis through partnerships with private companies, government agencies and international peer universities. CPE also manages the university's relationship with Coursera, a leading MOOC platform, and has taught hundreds of thousands of students through this partnership. CPE is completely self-supporting, generating more than $40 million in annual revenue from course fees, public and private contracts and grants. CPE employs over 230 employees (career, academic, contract and limited) and more than 60 student employees.

Job Summary: This position reports to the Assistant Dean/Chief Operating Officer, but is expected to work with the senior leadership team and program directors across the Division. Assists program leaders in assessing and validating the market for new program opportunities and business initiatives using primary and secondary research methods. Conducts research and analysis on a wide variety of topics in support of new opportunities, and communicates findings in a variety of formats including reports, web-hosted data, proposals, and presentations. Conducts data analytics of internal business and program data to identify opportunities for enrollment and revenue growth. Performs business modeling and recommends feasibility and shape of new initiatives, including features and benefits, pricing, and delivery channels. Assists in developing start-up budgets and strategic marketing plans.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Experience conducting research projects including quantitative and qualitative research to qualify new programs or products.
Experience using a variety of research methods, including secondary research, key informant interviews, survey design, etc.
Organizational and analytical skills to develop, interpret, understand and implement complex policy.
Independent judgment skills to determine the type of information and data needed for analyses and to develop recommendations based on an understanding of policy and priorities, analysis of available information, and an awareness of current issues.
Skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses.
Experience with Excel, Tableau or other data analysis and visualization tools.
Experience preparing and analyzing data from internal systems.
Experience summarizing qualitative data.
Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse groups and individuals from the University, both verbally and in writing.
Skills to research and summarize information in a timely manner.
Time management skills to manage, track, and work on multiple and simultaneous complex tasks, under competing deadlines. Skills to write and review data and select pertinent information for dissemination to departments.
Experience developing statistical reports, spreadsheets, and other quantitative analysis.
Writing skills to prepare clear and concise correspondence, web site content, and summary data; skills to edit and proofread material for correct grammar and spelling.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in research and analysis, especially in the area of self-supporting higher education, educational product development, or training and development.
Experience writing and editing a variety of analytical reports, proposals, correspondence, procedures, agreements, and training documents.
Fluent user of commonly available higher education and jobs?including data sources from BLS, NCES, private companies covering the space like Burning Glass, and advisory services like EAB.
Experience setting requirements to get data downloads and working with engineering teams to develop new reports.
Strong data visualization skills.
Experience with HTML and internet applications, web content management systems, and/or Tableau.
Experience working with Salesforce, Google Analytics, Destiny, Banner, UCPath, Campus Data Warehouse, KFS, and other data tables and data systems.
Knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive and/or personally identifiable information (for example, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
