POSITION: Coordinator of Leadership and Student Government
LOCATION: Campus Life Department
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Center for Leadership and Engagement and the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Coordinator of Leadership and Student Government will be responsible for working directly with the Student Government Association and overseeing the student clubs and organizations at New Jersey City University.
Provides oversight for the branches of the Student Government Association
Assists with the budget management of the Student Government Association
Attends all Student Government general council meetings
Serve as advisor to the Student Activities Board
Facilitate training and transition for student leadership within the student government;
Works closely with the Director of Student Life and Leadership in overseeing Student Government Association Executive Board
Oversees the development, coordination and day to day operations of student Clubs and organizations
Helps guide and engage students in thoughtful educational event planning and goal-setting.
Oversees and trains student clubs and organizations Advisors
Provides ongoing leadership training for all clubs, organizations and branches of Student Government
Assists with the coordination of the NJCU Armor Leadership Certificate Program
Assists with the development of the annual Leadership Conference
Promote a university-wide culture of engagement; develop and maintain a philosophy that is dedicated to increasing student involvement in university activities and provides a rigorous and relevant program for all students.
Participate as an active member of the Office of Campus Life team
Attend meetings, retreats, and trainings along with the support of major division-wide programs
Serve on university committees and perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in Higher Education or related field strongly preferred.
Proven experience in Budget management
Proven Experience in Program Development
Excellent communication skills
High level of enthusiasm for working in an extremely demanding environment
Ability to articulate the philosophy of Student Affairs and its contribution to student development
