1) Provides input and executes the mission-driven, strategic planning, and evaluation efforts for the Comprehensive Cancer Center
2) Is responsible for the administrative infrastructure, preparation, submission and management of the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) and serves as the primary administrative liaison to the National Cancer Institute
3) Oversees the management of all research-relevant Center components, including financial operations of the Center (e.g., operating budgets, grants and contracts, and philanthropic funds),the Cancer Clinical Trials Office, Shared Resources, Office of Community Engagement and Cancer Health Equity, education programs, and information technology
4) Works closely with relevant University of Chicago Medicine units including Marketing and Communications, website teams, Medical and Biological Sciences development,and government and public relation to ensure appropriate integration and alignment of priorities and activities
5) Participates in oversight and integration of research and clinical programs
6) Provides expertise and assistance in developing successful multi-investigator, large-scale grant submissions that are critical to the mission of the Center (e.g., P01s, SPOREs, T32s, U54s, etc)
7) Assists the Director of the Cancer Center with faculty and staff recruitment as directed
8) Facilitates interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and translational research
9) Assists the Director in activities related to the Executive Committee, and External Advisory Committee
10) Creates and implements new programs, initiatives, and policies for the Cancer Center
11) As appropriate, he/she will serve as a representative of the Center on various institutional leadership committees and boards and manages internal and external partnerships
12) This position also has administrative accountability for the Centerâ™s assigned space, investments, budget, and information systems associated with the Centerâ™s research operations

5) Demonstrates ability to lead groups from diverse professional areas and operates comfortably at a variety of organizational levels to achieve results
6) Acts proficiently and professionally in unstructured situations
7) Works well with little direction, though able to accept direction as necessary
8) Demonstrates skills in conflict management and possesses excellent interpersonal skills
1) Relevant graduate degree, e.g., MBA, MPH or PhD
1) Ten years of directly related experience in the academic research setting
2) Knowledge of Cancer Centers or equivalent specialized academic institutions
3) Strategic planning, including setting goals and milestones
4) Supervisory experience
5) Familiarity with federal grant policies and procedures
6) Familiarity with NCI guidelines for Comprehensive Cancer Centers and Cancer Center Support Grant support
