Job Description Summary .
Our Commercial Banking (CB) division supports over 100,000 clients across a wide range of business sectors through the provision of core banking products, such as lending, deposits and transaction banking services, as well as an extensive financial markets presence.
We have an exciting new opportunity for you as a Senior Manager to join our Markets Product Risk Team. The role of the team is:
To work in partnership with the CB Markets / LBCM Markets businesses to support sustainable growth whilst ensuring end to end risk is managed within a defined risk appetite.
To ensure the end-to-end processes or risk control is executed effectively and designed to manage operational risk through the application of key controls.
Do you have an advanced level understanding of the CB Coverage businesses, products and processes, and key operational risks to which these businesses are exposed?
This is a vital role as you'll act as the main interface into the Markets business as well as the supporting functions, providing direct support to Heads of Business and their teams as well as our Market Operations teams, to make sure the end-to-end risk & control framework is effective.
Your Key Accountabilities Will Be:
Understand business activities, strategy and risk priorities and identify the crucial operational risks and controls for review and assessment as per our operational risk framework.
Investigate root cause of operational failures, issues or events and recommend actions to ensure effective controls are in place; monitor implementation to closure and ensure timely completion of actions from Internal Audit, CER and other Risk Assurance Reviews.
Work with business partners and Policy & Governance team to ensure businesses align with our policies, procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
Facilitate 'Subject Matter Expertise' support/guidance for regulatory and risk issues.
Assess product risks and ensure appropriate governance adherence.
Support business compliance with the Group's Conduct Risk policies & procedures.
Initiate, recommend or facilitate appropriate actions to change processes and working practices to achieve operational improvements.
Ensure Conduct Risk remains central to the way our colleagues deal with customers
Mentoring and training colleagues in order to develop business wide risk management capabilities.
Control establishment and support initial testing of local initiatives/pilots to mitigate identified risks and remediating breaches.
Contribute to and support business strategic and simplification projects as CBBR Business / Process / Risk subject matter experts on process controls (effectiveness and appetite). Where appropriate educate on control standard methodology.
Build co-operative and trustful relationships within CB and as required across LBG (including internal suppliers).
Be a visible role model for conduct and demonstrate and encourage LBG values and behaviours.
Key Capabilities, Knowledge, Skills and Experience You'll Bring:
Comprehensive knowledge, ideally 10+ years experience working in a front office trading / sales environment - in either: Traded Products (FX, Rates, Credit, Commodities, Repo & where relevant Algorithmic Trading) and/or Financing (Bonds, Loans) or front and back/middle office including Markets Operations.
Risk management or business experience of Commercial Banking clients.
Understanding of similar Operational Risk Framework methodology and systems.
An understanding of Financial Services risk, legal and regulatory/statutory compliance environment and requirements.
Knowledge of relevant procedures, policies and services within the business.
Evidenced written and verbal interpersonal skills.
Experience of interacting with senior partners and the ability to influence and successfully challenge management to achieve an effective control framework.
Demonstrable ability to partner across different teams and influence and align colleagues and partners.
Whilst not essential, the following qualifications may be relevant: ACA/ACCA, IIA, PRM, Institute of Bankers.
Relevant experience could include Risk Management, Relationship Management or Internal Audit with experience in undertaking complex business reviews
