The Biology Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time Instructor position beginning in Fall 2020. Skidmore College is a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York. The successful candidate will contribute to the growing diversity (24% domestic students of color, 12% international students, and 14% first generation students) and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching. With its relatively small size (approximately 2,650 students) and low student-faculty ratio (8:1), Skidmore is known for having faculty devoted to the instruction and mentoring of undergraduates. Enthusiasm for teaching a diverse student population is essential. A Master's degree in Biology or a related field is required and prior teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to teach on average 18 contact hours per academic year (9 contact hours per semester), and will primarily be involved in the design, preparation, and delivery of the laboratories of the department's introductory courses. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to develop independent courses in the candidate's area of expertise, to contribute to the college's Scientific Inquiry Through Practice requirement.
