About the Opportunity: The Sr Grants Administrator, a key position within the Dean's Office of the College of Science (COS), provides timely, accurate, and compliant pre- and post-award support for Principal Investigators (PIs) within the COS in the areas of proposal development, data collection, compilation, and proofing for submission of proposals for new research opportunities. The incumbent will coordinate budget preparation and the submission of proposals to Office of Research Administration & Finance (ORAF) or other university offices within tight time frames. The position serves as liaison between PIs, department staff, ORAF, Research Finance, and/or others throughout the institution. Ensures adherence to the COS, ORAF, University, and external agency formatting & content guidelines and requirements. Develops the administrative budget portion of all outgoing proposals, coordinating approval on all cost share commitments by the Associate Deans of the COS. Works with the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research to provide reporting on research activity and effectiveness throughout the COS. Assists PIs by creating and maintaining financial reports on active grants; identifies expiring grants and works with appropriate parties to determine eligibility for no cost extension and processes associated action. Other tasks include financial analysis, forecasting, and other relevant information for the PIs; analyzing and tracking cost sharing and encumbrances; and ensuring the timely close out of grants.
Responsibilities: Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. 0-4 years of experience in budget and account reconciliation with decision making responsibility; Solid understanding of federal/University grant operations, rates and regulations, along with knowledge of relevant government regulations and university accounting procedures required. Experience with federal contracts, ie, terms and conditions administrative rules, cost principals, and regulations under OMB guidelines; experience working with both pre- and post-award research administration and sponsored programs; knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record keeping, and reporting; knowledge of grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and strong financial management/forecasting, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Must have strong interpersonal communication skills. Prior academic experience a plus, but not required. This position requires occasional flexible work schedules to meet submission deadlines.
