Senior Account Executive/Administrative Director - CHI

Kellen is searching for an association leader focused on delivering stretch results and creating an efficient and positive staff team culture for AUTM. You will serve as the Administrative Director and Kellen’s chief of staff for AUTM, a Kellen client professional society. AUTM is the non-profit leader in efforts to educate, promote and inspire professionals to support the development of academic research that changes the world and drives innovation forward. AUTM is comprised of more than 3,000 members who work in more than 800 universities, research centers, hospitals, business and government organizations around the globe. AUTM members work closely with commercial partners to transform ideas into opportunities, resulting in the creation each year of thousands of products, services and start-ups; and millions of dollars in economic development. You will report to and support the Association CEO and Board of Directors, and be responsible to and supported by Kellen senior management. You will play a key role in the creation of a lasting and successful partnership between AUTM and Kellen. In this role you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the association’s Kellen staff team and functions, ensuring excellence in all aspects of our work, preparing the association for the next level of evolution, scale and impact. You will provide support across a broad spectrum of association responsibilities, including governance support, administration, strategic and operating plan implementation and progress monitoring, budget development and oversight, and committee management. You will connect and ensure coordinated service delivery by staff specialists in membership, meetings, education, sales, information services, marketing and communications. You will need a track record of leadership at an association, with a keen understanding of associations and strong management skills. Candidates must be invested in organizational learning and culture, issues of operating scale and sustainability, cultivating leadership and supporting high capacity leaders.
What will you do?
Association Governance and Operations
With the association CEO, set direction and targets, develop and implement programs, identify resources.
Communicate staff and program status to CEO and to staff.
Serve as the staff liaison for select committees.
Promote association management best practices.
Strategic plan program administration and monitoring.
Budget planning and analysis.
Operating and business plan development
Ensure the collection, analysis, and application of data and analytics to inform decision-making and monitor current and future membership and participation trends.
Develop and review business plans and ROI for association programs.
Management of a multidisciplinary client team, ensure implementation of scope of work, coordination with Kellen specialists in other departments for service delivery. Ensure staff resources and deliverables are focused on client objectives.
Manage team to results through strong performance management, goal setting, coaching. Promote the growth and development of individuals through empowering, advocating and differentiated support.
Am I qualified?
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 5 years’ association management experience in a senior position.
Demonstrated experience as a leader of group projects and management of employees.
A self-initiated, innovative thinker who builds trusted, lasting relationships with members, volunteer leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Positive team player in a challenging and changing environment; includes working with a variety of personnel across multiple departments and office locations.
Engages colleagues and stakeholders; collaborative, builds rapport and consensus.
Flexibility under competing time requirements and changing deadlines.
Excellent focus and a good sense of priorities.
Detail oriented, high energy, self-motivated, organized, versatile and multi-task oriented.
High level of patience to work with a wide range of personalities
Ability to travel approximately four trips per year.
Anticipates change and uses data and trend analysis to update work plans.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
