Texas REALTORS®, an Austin based professional trade organization representing approximately 125,000 members, is seeking a Vice President of Governmental Affairs responsible for the development, implementation and management of the association’s political, legislative and advocacy programs.
We are looking for an optimistic, outgoing, conceptual thinker with excellent teamwork and relationship building skills, a strong drive to do what is right, and an appreciation for the history and tradition of the REALTOR® organization.
The individual we select will have a strong balance between confidence and humility.
The ideal candidate shall have a proven track record of delivering quantifiable results to the organization through consensus and relationship building with internal and external stakeholders, members, and local/state/national REALTOR® Associations.
Supervisory/administrative/performance management of three departments, with a staff of approximately 20 individuals;
The VP will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan, exercise executive leadership by working with other Association Departments for the cross marketing and program collaboration of all core competencies and key services.
Success is measured in the VP’s ability to create and maintain a cohesive work environment that retains and maximizes the talent of volunteers and staff.
Knowledge and Skill sets required are:
Budget planning and oversight;
PAC oversight of fundraising;
Financial distribution and knowledge of Texas Ethics Commission rules and regulations;
Knowledge of state and federal political and legislative regulations and policies, member and consumer engagement initiatives;
Knowledge of key public policy positions of the REALTOR® organization;
Transparent, inclusive and strategic interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities;
Ability to collaborate effectively by maximizing the talent and involvement of others, while guiding the primary goals of the Association’s Governmental Affairs Division;
The VP is required to be a registered lobbyist, with an extensive knowledge of the Texas political/legislative landscape and of the REALTOR®
The VP will report to the association’s President/CEO and will work closely with Association leadership, committees, local Associations and members.
