Holy Names University (HNU) invites candidates to apply for the position of Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness assists the Vice President for Academic Affairs with facilitating a culture of assessment and evidenced-based decision-making to improve the teaching and learning processes, aid in strategic planning, meet all accreditation criteria, and help the institution make informed resource allocation and policy decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: Serve as institutional Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Provide oversight for all institutional accreditation activities and responses. Maintain knowledge of accreditation processes, procedures, and expectations. Collaborate with faculty, deans, and academic leadership to write, submit, and lead substantive change proposals submitted to the WSCUC. Plan and coordinate the self-study for accreditation; and write all accreditation reports as required by WSCUC. Attend the Annual Resource Conference (ARC) and other WSCUC educational programming events and meetings. Organize, coordinate and monitor on-going implementation of institutional accreditation agendas and WSCUC recommendations. Articulate relevant accreditation activities from Commission Action Letters and provide accreditation progress reports to the campus community.
Provide expertise in assessment and planning, and develop assessment instruments. Implement best practices for assessment and evaluation that are in alignment with institutional initiatives for continuous improvement and data governance. Produce annual reports of survey data (HEDs Senior Survey, Student Experience Survey, etc.). Ensure alignment of institutional, program, and course-level learning outcomes. Collaborate with IR and school deans for research and planning. Implement strategies to use assessment results to make continuous improvements in student learning. Maintain and implement a comprehensive institutional assessment plan that assesses institutional and departmental learning outcomes. Develop and maintain institutional dashboards used to monitor indicators of success defined in the 5-Year Strategic Business Plan.
Collaborate with faculty to oversee the university-wide assessment of student learning through coordination of academic and co-curricular program review processes. Serve as ex-officio on the Faculty Senate's Program Review Committee by providing analytical support for the assessment of Institutional Learning Outcomes. Manage the annual academic review process by providing training to faculty to develop goals, outcomes, metric, data collection and analysis related to program effectiveness. Evaluate policies, procedures, and current practices that are relevant to the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for the purpose of ensuring that academic programs and services effectively meet faculty needs.
Provide training and support to members of the University community on institutional assessment processes for curricular and co-curricular programs. Build relationships among faculty and staff to develop and sustain a culture of assessment and evidence-based decision making. Administer support for administrative program review, grants, and contracts and consult on departmental data collection methods to ensure continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Terminal degree preferred; Master's degree considered if supplemented by exceptional experience. 5 years minimum experience in academic leadership; 10 years preferred. Strong research and analytical skills. Thorough understanding of academic standards, policies, and procedures. Collegial leadership style outstanding organizational skills.
