The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education manages units and projects within Undergraduate Education that support student success in areas of curriculum development and review, assessment of learning, supported instruction, and high impact practices. The Associate Dean, takes full authority for the day-to-day implementation of the campus GE policy in collaboration with the chair of the Board of General Studies, including GE Program assessment, development of any necessary exceptions at the student and program level, and evaluation of all student GE petitions. The Associate Dean approves and advises undergraduate Special Majors, and, as delegated by the AVP, has final campus authority for undergraduate petitions associated with student academic progress. The Associate Dean works with the Director of Assessment to convene the Assessment Facilitators and guide university-wide assessment, with Military and Veteran Student Services to address policy and academic issues related to veterans, and with International Student and Scholar Services to provide academic oversight to study abroad programs. The Associate Dean manages and provides leadership for aspects of the Academic Preparation Programs, specifically Statway and Step-to-College, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.
