The Cook at the UT Early Learning Center is responsible for preparingmorning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack menu items for young children, usingour recipes and procedures. The Cook utilizes a variety of kitchen equipmentand utensils for food preparation, and maintains high standards of quality,safety, and sanitation in providing nutritious and appealing food. Under thesupervision of the Chief Cook, the Cook engages in regular and ongoingcommunication to ensure proper food handling, to maintain necessary inventoryof food and supplies, and to complete related responsibilities as assigned.This is a full-time position with set hours Monday through Friday, preparingtwo snacks and one family-style lunch meal daily.
- Follows recipes for preparation of a variety of menuitems meeting USDA guidelines and program food philosophy
- Maintains daily cleaning, sanitization, and upkeep ofkitchen and food storage areas to include work stations, equipment, andutensils
- Exhibits knowledge of and adherence to TN Health Departmentrules and regulations governing food storage, preparation, and service
- Participates in training and professional developmentas assigned
