The Office of Research and Creative Activity at Western Kentucky University seeks a Compliance Associate. The Compliance Associate will work with the Office of Research Integrity Compliance Coordinator to provide guidance to the WKU campus system and supporting communities on regulations that govern responsible conduct of research and compliance with federal regulations, state laws, campus policies, and ethical guidelines governing the conduct of research. The Compliance Associate will also track and ensure compliance on sponsored projects, monitor required reporting on sponsored projects, and coordinate processes for ensuring compliance with the Financial Conflict of Interest on External Grants and Contracts policy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination of activities relating to research integrity and research compliance and adherence to pertinent federal, state, and local regulations.
Work effectively with all stakeholders to ensure compliance on sponsored projects, monitor required reporting on sponsored projects, and assist with close out procedures.
Assist the Compliance Coordinator in monitoring research activity that involves human subjects, vertebrate animals, and/or biosafety and provide administrative support to the campus Human Subjects Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
Coordinate processes for ensuring compliance with the Financial Conflict of Interest on External Grants and Contracts policy.
Assist in the implementation of comprehensive training programs for faculty, staff, and students that meet the requirements of pertinent regulations.
Perform reception and customer service functions including answering and directing telephone calls and emails, drafting email, record keeping, website updates, and data entry.
Coordinate functions such as travel, workshops, and information sessions.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills.
Proficiency in the use of computer and common software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Detail oriented with the capacity to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to work in a team environment and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals including faculty, staff, administration, and service personnel.
Two years post-secondary education
At least two years administrative office experience
