Hiring Department International Affairs Application Deadline Open Until Filled Full Time/Part Time Full-Time, benefit eligible 40 hr/week Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Salary: $16.92 - $23.80/hour Job Description This position will provide technical expertise and support to the campus regarding the federally mandated Student Exchange Visitor and Information System (SEVIS) data requirements for international students. SEVIS is the immigration database management system and is implemented either in real-time interface (RTI) online or through the S&T student information system and the PASS module thereof. Immigration Module of S&T Student System Module Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Identify the proper procedure for performing immigration events in SEVIS; perform routine upload/download of events to SEVIS daily; run SEVIS alerts daily; troubleshoot SEVIS alerts that appear in the Peoplesoft (student information system) database. Create processes for and enter data as needed to meet changing immigration regulations. Statistical Analysis of International Student Population: Develop data-gathering processes and generate information and reports for supervisor and S&T administrators upon request. Examples of information include, but are not limited to: statistics regarding enrollment - broken down by country, major or degree level, category; follow-up regarding enrollment statistics for various recruiting agencies; analysis of recruitment trends and activities. Review of SEVIS RTI Alert Lists: Check scholar expiration alerts; notify departments and scholars appropriately. Ensure that all students and scholars who have checked-in with IA are activated in the SEVIS system; follow-up on students with Port of Entry records which have not checked in with IA. Supervisory Tasks: Student assistant supervision. SEVIS Registration: Use a batch interface to perform an individual correct SEVIS registration event for each new and current international student. Student Census and Open Doors Survey: Perform census file review regarding students/scholars for whom our immigration documents have been issued. Submit (Open Doors Survey) to the Institute of International Education regarding a breakdown of our international student, scholar and/or study abroad population. Student Advisement and Campus Interface: Advise international students as necessary regarding their immigration requirements; work with S&T Administrators, faculty, and staff to inform them about international student and data requirements. Creation and Update of Forms and Procedures : Includes form design, work on process binder(s) and attending meetings to establish and communicate procedures. Other Duties as Assigned: Work with IA office staff as part of the team; assist with orientation, international student activities and other duties as needed Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
