The Veterans Bound Outreach Specialist will conduct:
Informing prospective veterans about program services and scheduled appointments, and documents interactions with participants electronically.
Attends veteran related events, organizations and post-secondary institutions to promote program services and increase general public awareness of program.
Develops and maintains calendar of outreach events, meetings, and presentations.
Participates in veteran services networks and strengthens relationships with area service providers to support participant referrals to the program and to ensure various needs of participants are met.
Meeting with program participants to provide services, supports, guidance, and referrals as necessary to ensure veteran success in the program and beyond.
Serves as program representative and provides teaching services and facilitates workshops and seminars as needed.
Maintains program records (participant applications and service request forms), monitors inventory and supplies, coordinates program events, and provides quality customer service.
Develops working relationships with key offices at the University (Admissions, Registrar's, Financial Aid offices) and at other institutions of higher education in order to advocate for participants.
Coordinates services for program participants.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree with emphasis in education, human services, or a related field
Military experience is preferred but not required.
Successful professional experience in veterans related services or organizations, with a demonstrated commitment to working with adult learners and veterans from socio-economically disadvantaged background is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills.
Experience presenting to public officials and large audiences a plus.
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of social media and networking.
Experience working with social service agencies.
Experience working with diverse populations.
