The Evergreen School is currently accepting applications for Primary Division Counselor (for preschool through 3rd grade). This position supports the social and emotional learning of Evergreen students and reports to the head of the Primary Division. Chief responsibilities include guidance to students, parents/guardians and faculty when a child is experiencing difficulty, and making therapist referrals for students in need. Additional responsibilities include maintaining strict confidentiality of student information and records. The counselor works in close partnership with faculty and staff around social and emotional curriculum in the Primary Division advisory program, as well as in the integration of such curriculum in subject-area classes.
This is a salaried, benefits-eligible, full-time 1.0 FTE position for the 2019-2020 school year beginning immediately.
Council students individually and in groups
Coordinate communication with families in regard to social and emotional learning
Act as an intermediary to facilitate communication with staff, parents and outside providers
Coordinate and facilitate parent education
Maintain strict confidential student records
Serve as member of Evergreen's Crisit Response Team
Attend NWAIS counselor meetings
Support faculty in the development and implementation of social and emotional curriculum
Other duties as assigned
3-5 years of related experience
A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
