The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Northern Kentucky University invites applications from excellent individuals for one tenure-track position in statistics, with a focus on data science. The position will be offered at the Assistant Professor level and begin in August 2020.
About the Department and Data Science Program The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, has 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty members. Data Science students complete coursework in statistics, informatics, data science, computer science, and business informatics.

Primary Responsibilities :
1. Teach a total of 24 contact hours per academic year, including introductory statistics and at least one undergraduate Data Analytics course.
2. Serve as liaison between the Data Science (offered through the College of Informatics) and Statistics programs and faculty within the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
3. Establish and maintain a successful research program.
4. Fulfill service requirements.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in Statistics OR Ph.D. in Data Science with an M.S. in Statistics.
Expertise in the R programming language, with an ability to integrate R into the undergraduate statistics and data science curricula.
Ability to teach the full range of undergraduate statistics courses and initial Data Analytics course offerings.
Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting learning environment that supports the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds
Interest and/or expertise with undergraduate research, including supervision of undergraduate research projects.
Interest and/or expertise with data visualization, simulation, Python programming, and/or other statistical methods that add to the breadth of current course offerings
Interest and/or experience in the use of high dimensional data analytics
Scholarly interests that could lead to relationships with local businesses, industries, or government agencies
