Institutional Research Analyst - Office of Institutional Research 13121
The Office of Institutional Research is seeking applicants for an Institutional Research Analyst to complete required reporting and provide analytical support to institutional officers regarding admissions, enrollment, registration, graduates, personnel, financial aid and other productivity measures as needed. This position reports to the Director of Institutional Research.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Conduct analyses to assess efficacy of policies, procedures, and current and planned university initiatives.
Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and SAS queries to meet analytical and operational needs of administrators and other campus users.
Assist with program and departmental assessments as requested by university administrators.
Prepare data submissions for the federal government, external surveys, and others across a spectrum of areas (e.g., student, HR, financial, etc.).
Understand and apply data management techniques and practices to ensure clear and accurate reporting and analysis.
Conduct analyses and creates official reports related to retention and graduation rates.
Develop, run, and disseminate weekly enrollment projections.
Prepare analyses of comparative metrics for West Virginia University and other comparative institutions.
Assist with completion of the Delaware study and provides comparative metrics related to faculty productivity.
Provide support for departmental staff, departmental leadership, and university committees as needed.
Actively engage in professional development activities including awareness of trends and emerging aspects of the higher education industry, West Virginia University and the practices and tolls of the discipline of institutional research.
Bachelor's degree in social science, business, information science, computer science, or related analytical field.
One year of experience analyzing and/or presenting data to help inform decision-making (report generation, dashboard development, etc.).
One year of experience with databases, Excel, or other data manipulation toolsets.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
One or more years of professional experience in higher education.
Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
One year of experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau.
One year of experience programming / conducting analyses using SAS software and/or SQL.
