Information Technology Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Assistant Director IAM (Assistant Director NC.326). This position will report to West Virginia University's (WVU) Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and will be responsible for leading the implementation, expansion and maturity of West Virginia University's (WVU) identity and access management (IAM) program. This position leads the growth, development and conduct of the IAM team, and manages assigned operational and project budgets. This position provides general assistance to ITS Executive Directors, college and division IT Directors, and other major administrators in support of identity and access management projects, proposals, presentations and budgets.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide direction and supervision to the staff supporting WVU's Identity and Access Management program. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, providing professional development, and conducting performance reviews. Responsible for developing managing project and operation budgets.
Lead staff in completing in daily operations of the IAM program which includes, but isn't limited to, identity provisioning, access management, system troubleshooting and maintenance. Identify, document and lead resolution of issues impacting the operations of the IAM program.
Lead in the creation and implementation of integration plans for the IAM program's identity management system and / or federated access management system with WVU's colleges and divisions, regional campuses, vendors and affiliated third parties' systems.
Lead in developing operational plans for centralizing and maintaining the IAM program using technologies such as multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, and federated access management.
Lead the integration of the IAM program with WVU's administrative, academic, student, and research systems, and with the systems of entities who are affiliated with WVU.
Collaborate with stakeholders across WVU to identify and document current IAM business processes then assist in developing and implementing updated or new IAM business processes which are repeatable and scalable.
Contribute to the identity and access management awareness program by conducting research, developing training materials, conducting workshops, participating in conferences, responding to employee or student inquiries, and completing assigned trouble tickets.
Provide regular, data-driven reporting on the status of WVU's identity and access management program. Communicate complex identity and access management data related to account provisioning and system access to a broad range of technical and non-technical faculty, staff and students.
Participate in the development, implementation and improvement of IT policies and procedures. Serve as a member in WVU's governance, risk and compliance program (GRC).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant field. Master's degree preferred.
Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology in a complex organization.
Experience in higher education or public sector preferred.
Demonstrated ability to prepare technical and management proposal documentation, resolve complex issues, explain and/or train staff on technical features of a system or process; and the ability to express technical information to non-technical users as well as gather information from them relating to requirements used in the development of systems and / or business processes.
Demonstrated ability to work as a manager, lead or be a member of a team of diverse skill levels and expertise from multiple areas; functioning in an optimum role for team success.
Demonstrated experience in delivering quality, user accepted, project(s) on time.
Knowledge of the University environment to gain knowledge of University policies, procedures and standards.
Knowledge of general office software including all components of Microsoft Office 365.
