External Relations and Constituent Engagement is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide staff support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of External Relations. This position will also provide support in other areas of the division when there are major events. The division is a fast-paced, fun, team-oriented work environment that values customer service and flexibility.
Provide day-to-day staff support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor External Relations and various constituent groups, including the UMKC Trustees, Trustee Scholars program, and local legislators. The UMKC Trustees represent the spectrum of Kansas City's business, civic and philanthropic leadership. Our members advocate on the University's behalf, provide community feedback and forge partnerships to help the University achieve its strategic priorities and financial objectives. The board meets every other month.
Calendar management for the Assistant Vice Chancellor.
Draft correspondence and other documents, prepare presentations and slide decks and organize mailings.
Assist with processing biweekly and monthly payroll and other requests.
Maintain Trustees records, distribution lists, rosters, and prepare board meeting packets.
Plan and coordinate Trustees meetings including room reservations, a/v set up, refreshments, etc.
Assist other External Relations and Constituent Engagement managers and staff as needed.
This position may require working an occasional evening and/or weekend, depending on the event.
Other duties may be assigned.
High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Successful applicants will also have the following qualifications:
Five years progressive office/customer service experience in a professional environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills, attention to details and commitment to accuracy.
Must be professional, have excellent interpersonal skills and share a passion for working with diverse groups.
Impeccable attendance and punctuality.
Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
Work with minimal supervision and take initiative to complete projects and tasks.
Full Time/Part Time
This position is full time, benefit eligible.
Shift: Monday-Friday 8-5 with occasional evening and/or weekends.
Starting salary between $13.27 - $18.00/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
