Manages, plans, organizes, and directs the operations and maintenance activities at the City’s two Wastewater Treatment Facilities, and all Wastewater pump stations and odor control stations. Responsible for all facets of O&M including safety, regulatory compliance, budget management and capital improvements. Bachelor Degree in the Environmental Field, Civil Engineering, or related field and five years experience in a supervisory position in utility systems and repair; or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. Possession of a WA Class IV Wastewater Operator License, valid WA driver’s license.
Principles, practices and methods of wastewater system operation, maintenance and plant management. Current principles and standards for wastewater treatment and collection systems, including odor control.
Extensive knowledge of the process and equipment involved in secondary wastewater treatment, including chemicals and biological processes.
Knowledge of industrial wastes and their effect on treatment processes and equipment.
Principles and practices of municipal budgetary procedures.
Ability to absorb and analyze complex technical information rapidly, draw logical conclusions, and make rapid decisions of major scope, with full awareness of technical, legal, and financial consequences.
Ability to communicate technical data in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner.
Ability to mediate conflicts, analyze and define issues, and manage change in relation to overall division goals and objectives.
