Temple University’s College of Public Health strives to solve health’s complexities for a better tomorrow. Our faculty prepare researchers, practitioners and educators to collaborate across disciplines to understand community needs, create evidence-based solutions, and deliver effective, compassionate care. We invite applications for early career tenure track faculty starting as early as January 2020. Qualifications. We seek individuals committed to collaborative, interdisciplinary research in Public Health and aligned health and social welfare disciplines. Applicants with research focused on any serious mental illness will be considered; but those with agendas focused on the development, implementation, and dissemination of innovative community mental health interventions are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in public health or a relevant discipline. Preferred applicants will demonstrate involvement in funded research and strong potential to secure external independent funding to support their research. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience. Rank is open at the level of Assistant Professor dependent on qualifications. Our 24 faculty strive to promote healthy communities and train students to excel in public health practice and research. We are committed to understanding and addressing the needs of vulnerable and underserved populations by leading and engaging in public health education, research, and service, often in collaboration with community partners. Our robust BSPH program, live and online MPH programs, and a PhD Program prepares graduates for exciting career paths as community health educators, counselors and practitioners, policy makers and trailblazing researchers. The Department has research strengths in health behavior change theory and interventions; mental illness and community integration; health communication; child and maternal health; organ and tissue donation; obesity prevention and intervention; and cancer prevention, control and survivorship. The Department ranks first in the College for research expenditures and is committed to using research to inform instructional content and methods. Faculty collaborate with colleagues within the College of Public Health as well as with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University Hospital, CPH Center for Obesity Research and Education, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and government and non-profit organizations. The Department is home to the Collaborative on Community Inclusion, a center that conducts research and knowledge translation activities to improve community inclusion of individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
