Department Description The Purchasing Department provides centralized procurement services to health system departments for the acquisition of everything from supplies to medical instrumentation used in providing patient care to the equipment and parts needed to operate and maintain the health system's physical plant.

Manage purchase order confirmations in GHX, which includes updating PO detail and delivery dates, notifying requester of backorders or delayed shipments, and resolving rejections. Interact with supplier to obtain pricing, track deliveries and request proof of delivery, resolve quantity exceptions validate pricing and requests for vendor returns. Process vendor returns in Lawson and coordinate returns process with receiving and requesting department. Resolve purchase order, receiving and invoice exceptions to ensure prompt of invoices. Process PO change orders and cancellations to ensure prompt 3-way matching of invoices. Performs analytical work to research the order, work with requesters and supplier to validate quantities received and correct pricing. Produce and maintain reports. Actively promote and participate in process improvement initiatives and projects.
Experience in purchasing operations with a portion in the health care industry.
Experience in ERP system, prefer experience with Infor Lawson ERP system.
Evaluate conditions of assigned tasks and make recommendations to improve, revise, and/or clarify current systems, procedures and policies to promote increased efficiency in assignment completion and department operations.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of business subjects, such as: procurement and purchasing, business law, economics and accounting, and analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to all assigned tasks.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of computerized systems and computer generated data.
Must have knowledge of and the demonstrated ability to perform the procurement function using an automated procurement/purchasing system.
Valid Driver license and good driving record: Must be able to travel to UC facilities and vendor locations and required.
Must have knowledge of all relevant federal, state, and local government regulations pertaining to a variety of university and UCDHS operations.
Demonstrates excellent customer service and commitment to the customer/department.
Associate or Bachelor's degree.
