The Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) project is an international collaboration to create a large-scale water Cherenkov detector, located at Kamioka Observatory in Japan. In support of this collaboration, TRIUMF is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Researchers to join the HyperK-Canada group. This successful candidate will a take a leading role in the design of the Intermediate Water Cherenkov (IWCD) project for Hyper-K and will be expected to:
Develop the multi-PMT system for Hyper-K IWCD
Design the IWCD detector and its calibration, including the CERN beam test
Contribute to the Super-K and/or EMPHATIC operation and data analysis
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in particle or nuclear physics that was awarded in the last 5 years or that will be awarded in the near future. Applicants must have extensive knowledge in detector hardware and simulation. The ability to problem solve based on physics principles in a systematic way and strong communication skills are required.
This grant funded position will be based at TRIUMF, and the term of employment will be based on an initial commitment of one year. This may be renewed for a second and third term, based on mutual satisfaction and continued grant funding. Salary will be competitive depending on experience.
