The Director, Meetings & Education, leads the Association’s overall efforts to maintain a knowledgeable and vibrant industry community through the development and execution of all association meetings, conferences, immersions, seminars, and webinars. The Director is responsible for identifying key issues and top talent by engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including convening member program committees; coordinating with staff on cross-functional initiatives; interacting with peer and professional groups; and managing, developing, and directing the education and meetings team. This person is a self-starter with a high level of initiative, innovation, service orientation, financial acumen, and interpersonal skills. The incumbent researches, analyzes and develops new and existing programs, and makes astute recommendations on how the department can maintain a competitive edge in the industry and increase non-dues revenue for the Association.
In conjunction with CHPA senior staff, manage the development lifecycle of core CHPA educational programming: the Annual Executive Conference (AEC), the Regulatory, Scientific, & Quality Conference (RSQ), the Marketing Conference, and the Supply Chain Conference.
Manage the educational programming offered under OTC Academy, including OTC 101 and various webinars, the President’s Forum, and Retail Immersions, when secured.
Serve as a principled leader and mentor for (3) direct reports, including establishing priorities and measurable goals, evaluating work output, and providing professional development opportunities.
Direct and support the work of the Senior Manager of Education, including content development, speaker procurement and logistics, marketing and conference materials, and program evaluation.
Direct and support the work of (2) Meetings and Events Managers on a variety of functions, including venue selection and vendor management, meeting logistics, advertisement, contract negotiation, and registration correspondence.
Lead the department in uncovering revenue enhancements, cost savings opportunities, and implementing innovative programming.
Partner with the SVP of Business Development & Industry Relations to ensure the sustainability of the department, including budget development, financial planning, profit and loss analysis, and goal implementation. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and meetings and make strategic recommendations for improvement.
Foster cross-departmental collaboration to set critical pathways in project management of all educational programs and meetings, e.g., marketing, moderator scripts, etc., that are aligned with programmatic objectives and CHPA’s value proposition.

Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in education programs and meetings, preferably with a trade association(s).
Strong management skills with at least 5 years of supervisory experience.

Detail-oriented, exceptional follow up, and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a face-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to conduct discussions with member executives, give presentations to large audiences, and to promote services of the Association.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification.
Telecommuting is allowed.
