Job DescriptionThe Paralegal position is responsible for providing support and assistance to members of Greystar s Risk Management and Compliance group ( RMC ) with respect to regulatory, securities, registered investment advisor and other corporate compliance matters that support the services performed by the business group. The position conducts research and analysis of applicable laws, gathers and prepares recaps of evidence and facts, prepares drafts of legal documents, memorandums and other documents related to compliance matters, and assists in tracking and monitoring the status of matters.
Assists in preparation of securities, registered investment advisor, lobbying and other regulatory or legal filings, as required.
Designs and supports best practices document management and ensures consistent file organization across functions.
Processes signing and distribution of legal agreements and compliance documents; drafts cover letters and other correspondence, memorandums, spreadsheets and presentations, as needed.
Assists in drafting of corporate governance documents, including notices of meetings, agendas and meeting minutes, and assists in preparation of materials for board and committee meetings.
Works with team leaders on maintenance of corporate compliance calendar, project prioritization and tracking status of outstanding items.
Review and maintain policy and protocol documents; work with team leaders to review business and transaction documents, as needed, such as marketing materials and disclosures.
Assists throughout all stages of transactions, including due diligence and on-going compliance efforts.
Assists in payment of invoices, including preparation of relevant documentation and coordinating with Accounting as necessary to address questions and provide additional information.
Prepares documents, letters, presentations, and other communication materials; types and spell-checks documents; creates graphs and other displays; complies with document retention policies and acts as liaison for questions related to communication.
EducationBachelor s degree with minimum 3 years experience as a corporate paralegal, including extensive experience with commercial agreements or transactional practice. Paralegal certificate preferred.Qualifications
Ability to work independently and in a self-directed fashion with excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, organize and prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to prepare and explain compliance reporting to key business leaders and the Company s support and functional groups.
Strong working knowledge of advanced functions of Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to organize documents in paperless storage environment.
Process-oriented and rigorous devotion to detail and organization.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with professionalism and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced and collaborative environment.
Takes initiative and makes continuous process improvements.
