This System Administrator position is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and applications. They install hardware and software, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the needs of the University. This System Administrators also actively resolves problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit downtime.
Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. The ideal candidate should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.
Their goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Install and configure hardware, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and software
Active Directory/O365/Exchange user, group, and group policy management
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
Respond to and Troubleshoot issues and outages
Upgrade systems with new releases and models
At least 2 years' experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Linux servers in a medium or large environment
At least 2 years' experience installing, administering, and maintaining complex applications including Microsoft IIS and Active Directory
Employee must carry a cell phone where they can be reached for emergency support
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think strategically, as well as tactically, and to exercise sound judgment in problem solving and priority/goal setting
Strong service-oriented attitude
Strong technical and analytical skills
Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and departments
